Sam and Aimee Sell, owners of Rio Vista Chevrolet, are tremendous community partners who have always supported the folks who support them. For the past two years, they have worked with the J. Ryder Group Hole In One Program to sponsor a unique hole-in-one challenge for the Chumash Charity Golf Classic.
To make the hole-in-one challenge especially exciting this year, both men and women hit from the same tee box at 165 yards and if someone hit a hole-in-one, they would win a car for each player in the foursome! As fate would have it, that is exactly what happened on August 22, 2019.
74-year-old Maxine Littlejohn was on her last hole of the day. Maxine teed off, and, according to one of her playing partners A.J. DeDios, her shot “landed just short of the pin on a little ridge. Hit the pin and dropped straight in!” Littlejohn said, “it was a wonderful event for a great cause and ending my day on the course like that is something I’ll never forget.”
Littlejohn is close to this event as she is the secretary/treasurer for the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians business committee. Littlejohn’s extraordinary 165-yard drive was recorded on the 9th hole at the Alisal River course. Littlejohn is known around the area as an exceptional golfer, especially for her age. Most golfers go their entire lives without hitting a hole in one, but this was Maxine’s 5th hole in one!
The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians has donated more than $25 million to many groups, schools, and organizations in the community. Rio Visa Chevrolet and their partner, the J. Ryder Group Hole In One Program, were pleased to present the winners with their vehicles a few weeks ago.
