Hole in One Defies the Odds

Pictured here left to right are Corey Stevenson, Sales Manager at Taylor Ford; the lucky winner, Rick Wakefield; and Albert Guay, organizer of the Jean Coutu Golf Tournament.

It was Rick Wakefield’s lucky day at the 25th Annual Jean Coutu Golf Tournament. The event took place at the beautiful Royal Oaks Golf Club in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. Wakefield mentions that it was extremely windy that day. “It was the kind of gusts that made the flag bend in the wind,” he recalls. Undoubtedly, even the most experienced golfer would second guess their club choice in these conditions.

Due to the adversity from the wind, Wakefield chose his 7 iron to make the tricky shot. Taylor Ford was the generous sponsor of that day’s hole in one prize: a Brand-New, Premier Lincoln MKC. The Lincoln was situated on the 6th hole which was a 155-yard shot complete with an elevated green and protected by surrounding sand bunkers.

Once he took his swing, Wakefield recounts that he “lost [the ball] up in the air and next thing [he] saw was the ball land on the green.” Wakefield has golfed for 30 years and has never landed on this green until that day. Understandably, he was very happy with his shot. What he didn’t expect was the course witnesses saying that the ball went in after it landed on the green. At this news, the surrounding group erupted with cheers! What a great time to get a hole in one!

Wakefield notes that Taylor Ford was wonderful to work with and that he was so appreciative for the whole experience. The team at J. Ryder Group / Ford Lincoln Hole in One Program could not be happier for Rick and the great folks at Taylor Ford.
