The annual Spruce Lake Benefit Tournament in Telford, PA was sponsored this year by Bergey’s Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram. While the day progressed routinely with many of the 150 players returning, 56-year-old Mark Rohrbach unknowingly made the day much more memorable with his hole in one win. “I had no idea it even went in,” Mark said as he spoke of the winning drive. “I just picked up my 8 iron, struck the ball pretty good and made a lofty shot. It bounced about 25 feet short and the rest is history!”
The annual event is hosted at Indian Valley Country Club. “I play this course once a year, but I always remember that hole number 16 is a tough one,” Mark explains. “Pin placement is difficult, and there’s a hill just below the hole so if you hit too far, it’s over.” Not expecting to even come close, Mark said he just swung like he always does, and the stars aligned sending him home with a brand new Jeep Cherokee.
Having played golf for more than 25 years, Mark was still able to surprise himself with the perfect shot. “I love to play golf, but I don’t have time to play golf,” Mark laughed. He’s played the course at Indian Valley once a year for this same tournament, but he’s just in it for the fun. “My wife and I love the car, it’s really great. I still have no idea how it all happened. I just showed up for some golf and the rest was up to the man above.”
“The whole experience was fine. We had a winner about 8 years ago so I knew what to expect,” said Bob Yothers of Bergey’s CJDR. “We will definitely be coming back to J. Ryder Group/Auto Dealers Hole in One Program for all of our hole in one needs”.
