The Living Word Lutheran Church of Rochester, MI hosted the Living Word Golf Outing at the Sycamore Hills Golf Club. The golf outing was set-up to raise money for the church and all proceeds went to funding the ministries in the church. It was just an average day in Macomb County, MI, however it would prove to be far from average for Brad Miller. Brad was invited to the tournament by his childhood friend and has been thankful ever since.
On the morning of the tournament, Brad treated it as a normal morning of playing a round of golf and catching up with his friends. Brad has been golfing since he was a kid, but as he put it, “I love to play, I just don’t always play well.” He had never played on this course, nor participated in the Living Word Golf Outing before. With the odds against him on this beautiful afternoon, he had low expectations for himself, as do most casual golfers when hitting the links.
Prior to playing the prize hole, Brad had been shooting above average that morning and felt optimistic. Before teeing off, he joked with his fellow golfers, saying he was going to make the hole in one – surely not thinking he would actually do so. The hole was fairly straight with a large pond down the left side of the fairway, but that did not hinder his focus. He struck the ball with perfect precision, sinking an ace for a brand-new Ford Fusion! To this day, he still has a hard time believing it really happened.
This was Brad’s first hole in one ever and he said, “it will probably be my last one, but I’d be okay with that!” He spoke very highly of the team at Bill Brown Ford and said it was “more than a pleasure working with them, and they made the whole process really simple for me. I will undoubtedly be attending this outing again next year!”
