July 25th, 2019 will long be remembered by Michael Smith, it was his luck day! He was golfing with good friends at his home course, Shade Mountain. Michael retired after 34 years of teaching 5-6th grade math and is a grandfather to a granddaughter and two grandsons.
Since retiring he and his wife like to visit their granddaughter who plays softball for N.C. State and watch their grandsons that both play football. So in his spare time he plays a lots more golf.

Smith said he golfs 2-3 times a week and it obviously paid off that day! Michael said that he and his friends like the course, because they host good events with great prizes.
The tournament that day was fundraiser for 2019 Mid-West Football league. Beaver Motors and the Andretta family have long been supporters in the community and once again they stepped up and provided a chance to win a Jeep Cherokee through the J. Ryder Group Hole In One Program for this event.
Smith’s good friend Dan said that Michael was the second one to tee off. He used a 4 hybrid and it was around 178 yards to the stick. Smith’s shot was straight at the pin, bounced before the green and rolled on and in. What a day, a hole in one and you win a car too! Thanks again to the Andretta’s and Beaver Motors, Inc..
